Multicultural Fascists Just Following Orders
This Article Written by Robert Carberry
The latest attack on a "conservative" or "right-wing" group occurred at Columbia University in New York. The "Ivy League" school again showed it is second-rate when it comes to tolerance, decency, free-speech and any other value necessary for the functioning of a society. The newest Ivy League attack was directed at the pro-immigration reform group, the Minutemen. But in a closed society where real life has no impact, what is to be expected? Basically, radical left-wing( what else?) individuals could not stand the mere presence of invited guest, Minutemen chief Jim Gilchrist, and decided to just attack him. He ran for cover while the usual communist inspired individuals put up huge banners saying things like, "No person is illegal" and some slogans in Spanish. Much of these expressions were the same you could see at any pro illegal-alien rally. The goal is always the same: Shut down the expression of others with different viewpoints. That is gut-level communist ethics at work. Of course, Ivy League campuses- like many colleges- have a bad reputation for differing viewpoints. Without question, college campuses are among the last bastion of strong leftist ideology. A moderate or conservative professor is often as prevalent as a dinosaur walking around. So much for "expression of ideas." Even NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg is getting sick of the act. He mentioned how Columbia President, Lee Bollinger, must "get his hands around this." He also stated there were "just too many incidents at the school where people get censored." Good for you, Mayor. Of course, various "civil-wrongs" groups are actually in favor of the invasion against free-speech and urged Mr. Bollinger not do take any action. But really, what is the surprise? These same people only favor "rights" when you are of a certain race, certain political type or certain sexual orientation. They are never around for a white male mugged or murdered by non-whites and are never around for true expression. Many of these groups are as reliable as a drunk showing up for work the following day. In an absolutely fantastic article appearing in the New York Post on October 13, a young man named Matt Mireles, a Columbia student and award-winning writer in his early 20's, describes the mentality of the Columbia student. He says the school is basically a place where rich kids who agree with each other hang out. There is a mentality of a non-white person being an "exotic, vulnerable species that needs protection and support of upstanding Ivy Leaguers like ourselves... Except when we actually have to be around them." He goes on to discuss a conversation he had with a Latina student complaining of a perceived "anti-immigrant" tone of Midwestern Democrats and she wonders if she could vote Democrat. In the next breath she states how she is "sick" of all the Mexicans coming into her Queens neighborhood. You get the point. Hypocrisy rules. Like it or not, the Minutemen are a legitimate part of the immigration debate. They would not be needed if our government on all levels decided to enforce laws, stopped playing to pathetic political pressures, listened to the overwhelming masses of people on the issue, stopped catering to sickening greed of "business" people and so on. The group arose out of simple frustration on a big issue: illegal immigration. But word never got around to the hard-core group of free-speech haters that the Minutemen- invited guests- are allowed as much a right to speak as Stalinist and Marxist clones. It is time for President Bollinger to set a standard all Ivy League schools can use. Punishment must be given to free-speech haters. It is a very important part of who we are as a nation. For it has been shown over and over again disaster only follows a nation with repressive tactics on its people. Intolerance at schools leads to intolerance at newspapers and entertainment and into general society. Step up to the plate, Mr. Bollinger. Robert Carberry is a writer from New York
